NT1004 NT Intro: Gospels & Acts (3 units, Core)
This course will provide a critical introduction to the four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles in their historical settings with parallel readings from other first century texts such as Josephus’ Jewish War and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

World Christianity: Early Church through the Reformation. Christian practice and theology in the civilizations of the Middle East, north and east Africa, central and eastern Asia, India, and Europe from late antiquity through the Reformation.

CE2002 Intro to Christian Ethics (3 units, Core)
History of Ecumenical Social Thought: This course invites students to critically examine social thought from within the ecumenical movement. It will focus on the social witness of the World Council of Churches from 1948 to the present. The course is designed to explore foundational ecumenical concepts, historical periods and major themes emerging from the life and work of WCC. Students will learn by engaging in research around a specific social issue and by participating in reading, lectures, and dialogue as together we consider the WCC's contribution and response to significant historical world events. This course seeks to provide the student with a foundational survey of the field of Christian ethics, with concern for its application to daily pastoral practice.

FT3210 - Disciples History and Polity (3 units, Elective)
This course explores the origins and development of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as a distinctive North American denomination. Particular attention is given to the ways in which its life and thought have been shaped in relation to changing social and political contexts, and to the persons who have led in that creativity and adaptation. Students are expected to engage historical sources, including primary ones, to assess the information provided by them to and to explore what contemporary Disciples may learn from them. LSFT2525 Reformed Worship and Sacraments (3 Units, Elective)
This course provides for an understanding and appreciation of the practice of worship and the administration of the sacraments in the Reformed Tradition. Worship and the sacraments are examined from an historical and theological perspective, and in contemporary settings. The Directory for Worship, the Book of Confession, and the Book of Common Worship will be studied in order to discover strengths and weaknesses in our tradition and how we can be faithful to our tradition while seeking to be relevant in our contemporary context.

FT4002 Supervised Ministry 1 (1.5 units, core)
This year-long course (3 units total) is designed for interns in the M.Div. program a they work within the context of a specific ministry site for a determined period of time, under the supervision of the field faculty, seminary faculty, and intern peers. First semester SMS is a prerequisite for the second semester:

FT1060 Intro to Ministry 1 (3 units, core)
This year long course (6 units total) is designed to offer an opportunity for first-year M.Div. students to explore and develop their own understanding and theology of ministry within the context of a small community of student colleagues, faculty, and guests who are experienced in the art and practice of ministry. First semester ITM is a prerequisite for second semester.
