The Rev. Dr. Philip Butin joined San Francisco Theological Seminary in July 2002 after nearly a decade of service as pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Butin was an active member of the Presbytery of Santa Fe and co-founded the Ecumenical Institute for Ministry in New Mexico. He holds an M.Div. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Duke University. |

Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins
Denomination: Presbyterian
The Rev. Dr. Judy Yates Siker joined SFTS in July, 2008 as Vice President and Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins. Before coming to SFTS she had served as Dean and Associate Professor of New Testament at the American Baptist Seminary of the West, another founding member school of the Graduate Theological Union. Her administrative duties for SFTS include oversight of the southern campus of SFTS in Pasadena. Dr. Siker is a Presbyterian minister who has been and remains active teaching, preaching and leading spiritual retreats in northern and southern California. She holds a B.A. from Meredith College, an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. |

The Rev. Dr. Jana L. Childers, Dean of the Seminary, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Homiletics and Speech-Communication at San Francisco Theological Seminary, is a Presbyterian minister who served congregations in Kansas and New Jersey before being called to the work of theological education. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. |

The Rev. Peter D. Crouch holds a B.A. degree from UCLA and an M.Div. from SFTS. His ministry has included pastoral ministry in Bellevue, Washington; Director of Development, Communications, and Stewardship for Chicago Presbytery; Development Officer of the Presbyterian Foundation; and Chief Development Officer of Church World Service. He joined the seminary’s administration on July 1, 2005 and oversees the offices of funds development, communications, IT, alumni relations, church relations, and conference services. |

Barbara Brenner Buder holds a bachelor’s in business from University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Yale School of Organizational Management. She worked for 14 years at Bank of America Corporation in San Francisco, advancing to executive vice president in the Corporate Strategy and Development Group. Prior to that, Brenner Buder was a manager in the audit department of Deloitte & Touche, a public accounting firm in San Francisco. Brenner Buder is an ordained Presbyterian elder and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Berkeley, where she sings in the Chancel Choir. |

Dr. Coote holds a B.A. From Swarthmore College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. She has been at SFTS since 1979 and serves in several capacities: associate dean for student life, director of admissions & financial aid, registrar, and associate professor of Biblical Greek. |

Associate Dean of Enrollment

The Rev. Wendy S. Tajima returned to SFTS in 2007 as Director of Enrollment for San Francisco Theological Seminary, Southern California. A graduate of Stanford University, for ten years she worked in the social services area as a counselor, fundraiser, and business manager. After earning her MBA from UCLA (now Anderson School of Management), she joined Apple Computer. She was a manager in Apple’s Evangelism Department when she entered seminary, receiving her M. Div. from SFTS in 1997 with the Seminary Fellowship. An ordained PC(USA) Minister of the Word and Sacrament, for ten years she served as pastor, interim pastor, and Associate Conference Minister with the Hawai‘i Conference United Church of Christ on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i. As Associate Dean of Enrollment, Wendy manages student recruiting, financial aid, and housing. If the ministry thing doesn’t work out, she plans to raise dogs for a living. |

Chaplain and Associate Professor of Ministry

Dr. Charles Marks joined the SFTS faculty in 1999 as Chaplain and Associate Professor of Ministry. Prior to joining SFTS, he served as a pastor in urban congregations in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis; he also served the Synod of Southern California and Hawaii and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in New York and Louisville. Dr. Marks holds a Master of Divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary. |
