The Lloyd Counseling Program
The Lloyd Counseling Program continues the 40-year tradition of the Lloyd Center Pastoral Counseling Service. Our purpose is to provide SFTS students and their families with three services. They are:
- Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy
- Spiritual Direction
- Psychological Assessment
Director
This program is directed by SFTS Associate Professor of Pastoral Counseling Scott Sullender, Ph.D. Scott is a licensed psychologist and a Diplomate with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
Location
All services are provided on the SFTS San Anselmo campus or by special arrangements off campus.
Staff Providers
Our director has a list of approved providers in each of the above categories of services. In your initial interview, you will be matched up with a provider who can best meet your needs and achieve your goals.
Fees
There are professional fees for each of these services. SFTS provides a voucher program that pays approximately 50 percent of the full and customary fees. The voucher program is applicable only to the counseling and spiritual direction services, not the assessment services. If you wish to participate in the voucher program, you must purchase your vouchers in advance. Vouchers can be purchased at either the Student Services office or through Dr. Sullender.
Initial Interview
If you believe that you can benefit from any of these services, we invite you to make an appointment with Program Director Dr. Sullender. He will work with you to complete the assessment forms and discern the best program and provider for your needs and goals. This initial interview is free and there is no obligation to go further if you choose so.
Confidentiality
This program and its staff follow strict standards for privacy and confidentiality, as might be expected in any professional counseling program. A full description of the programs procedures and policies regarding confidentiality will be explained to you at the time of the initial interview.
Whole Leaders
This program represents one, among many ways, in which SFTS expresses its commitment to educate its students as whole persons, preparing their hearts and souls for ministry as well as their minds. Services are available to all SFTS students. We hope that students will take advantage of these services, as needs arise in the process of preparation for ministry.
